From the rule in the sidebar:

Feel free to post news about new official merchandise whenever you like but for unofficial goods, or photos of your personal collection, please post them on Merchandise Mondays.

The sub gets filled with people taking photos of their collections, their amiibos, their copy of [insert game here] as well as people wanting to sell you stuff. So we limit it to Monday's so it doesn't over take the sub.

Brand new official merchandise announcements are allowed any day of the week, just unofficial merch or photos of your own merch is limited to today!

[MM] What is up with the 3D Majora's Mask?

    Posted: 04 May 2020 01:47 AM PDT

I was around when Majora's Mask came out for Nintendo 64 and holy good god was it one of the best games ever. It was so dark in a way that Ocarina of Time wasn't. I've never played the 3D version but I saw this review of it and I am horrified. What really sticks out is the ridiculous nerf to Zora swimming. I loved loved just swimming in the bay as a Zora, it was right up there with rolling around Termina Field as a Goron. And they just took all the fun out of it. The whole video is really good and the overarching theme is that Majoras Mask was watered down because the original was too hard?

Trust me when I say I am no pro gamer, I sure have my noob moments. But was Majora's Mask really that hard? Hard to the point that they changed the bubble mechanics for Deku form? Where they stopped moving the platforms when trying to get to that monkey in the palace? Yeah that part was tricky but isn't that the f'ing point? And it looks like they took out the fun of that first boss fight by making you do that dumb flower jump. And the glowing parts where you're supposed to shoot the ice arrow, that's just inexcusable. I adored Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, 3, and 4, but one of the later games, American Wasteland maybe? insisted on giving you a tutorial like every single task and it's like dude just let me fukin skate around damn.

From what I saw in that video they sucked the soul out of Majora's Mask which remains to this day my second favorite Zelda game after OoT, and that's just depressing for those who never played the glorious original on N64.

[Botw] I wonder how different would BoTW's story be if the following Occured.

    Posted: 03 May 2020 10:56 PM PDT

Link staying in the that shrine for a millennium and a Half (1,500 years)and being uncovered by some future Archeologists. He does awaken, but at a moment where he very nearly ended up as part of a museum exhibit.

The World he ends up in being one where Hyrule isn't just in ruins, but gone completely, All records destroyed in the Calamity, no living person left who remembers it. The Hylian race and other races completely extinct. To those in this distant future. The land where Hyrule used to be is just that . . .land. No sign of a Castle, No sign of any indication of a previous civilization in this land. It's just that. Land and nothing more It's all fossil record now.

Think of it as a depressing version of the movie Just Visiting or the Les Visiteurs movies

"It belongs in a Museum. So do you."

I think the "wild" part would be him being forced to live out his existence in the wilderness. Being unable to integrate into this future society and world he's in. Unable to adapt, unable to comprehend what he sees.

I have some monologues for this kind of scenario

"Problem was, as far as the world was concerned, he didn't even exist. There wasn't a city, a parish, a hospital, jail or baseball team that had his name any place. Нe didn't have a country, he didn't even have a birth date, no family. No Friends. Нe was in his twenties but officially he had never even been born. No matter how hard he tried to convince others. Everyone else thought he was a liar or otherwise disturbed. He didn't understand them, and they didn't understand him. He was no longer the Hero of some mythical kingdom. Just a relic of a kingdom that no longer even exists. Alone, in a strange world and a strange society. The Last of his kind. A Dinosaur. . . .an outcast"

"Perhaps, he did Belong in a Museum after all."

[BotW] I'm looking for a specific picture.

    Posted: 03 May 2020 08:11 PM PDT

It's a picture in BotW style, with a long image on the top and bottom, where the image is mirrored in a way. The top half has Zelda and Link, where one of them is crying, and being comforted by the other (can't remember which). The bottom half has them both, but this time, one of them is a spirit (again, can't remember which), and the other is crying, but is alone, and can't see the spirit trying to comfort them.

I thought it was beautiful, but I can't find it anymore. Help?

[SS] Where can I find a direct translation from Japanese of Demise's "curse"?

    Posted: 03 May 2020 08:45 PM PDT

I've been wondering for a while what exactly it is in the Japanese version, and if it's actually a translation error like Ganon "giving up reserrection" in BotW. I've heard that in the Japanese version, this section is actually more like Demise has made too many demons now, and they will remain forever, tormenting the people of hyrule. No curse, just lots of evil. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

[ALL] Familiarizing self with Zelda series without owning older gaming consoles?

    Posted: 03 May 2020 08:41 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I am not new to the Zelda series— I played Twilight Princess years ago until my Wii broke unfortunately, and now on the switch I'm playing BOTW. Both these games have been AMAZING and seriously the only games I have really loved playing.

I recently got interested in the lore of LoZ and the timelines and all. I know previous games brought forth a continuous storyline and foster a deeper connection to understanding the places/characters/story in the more recent games.

I would LOVE to play Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker, but since they are only available on older consoles, I don't have access to do so & don't want to shell out a ton of money buying the consoles off eBay.

For newer Zelda enthusiasts, how have you been able to learn about the series on a deeper level?

I'm currently watching a play through of Skyward Sword on Youtube, which is great, but not equivalent to playing unfortunately :(

Does anyone think that Nintendo would release older Zelda games for Switch gameplay?

[ww] Treasure charts and the shiny circles. Are they the same?

    Posted: 03 May 2020 09:18 PM PDT

I know they are in the sense that yes you know where the chart leads and it's shiny, but without the chart, it's only 50 rupees. If i find the chart after i get the 50 Rupees, Will the circle appear again?

[MM] Is there an equivalent to the Water Temple in Majora’s Mask?

    Posted: 03 May 2020 08:34 PM PDT

I'm going to start playing Majora's Mask very soon & I was wondering if there is a level/temple as irritating as the Water Temple from Ocarina of time that I need to prepare myself for before I tackle it?

    [BoTW2] Interesting boss idea

    Posted: 03 May 2020 08:26 PM PDT

Ok so Ganondorf is most likely the villain of the sequel and in the past he was raised by the Twin witches Koume and Kotake so what if they were a boss. Now lore wise that doesn't make sense but what if there are high ranking Yuga clan members that resembles them and you had to fight them. I see the fight being mostly long ranged where like in Orcarina of Time you use the shield bash to knock their magic back at the other to do the most damage

[All] Which game would you recommend to a newcomer to the series and why?

    Posted: 03 May 2020 11:46 AM PDT

I'm new to the Zelda franchise, only really knew Link from Smash bros. I played BotW in October and that made me want to play all the Zelda games - I just recently completed my first Zelda game, the 1986 original.

If you had gotten to me before I picked up BotW, which game would you have recommended I start with?
