From the rule in the sidebar:

Feel free to post news about new official merchandise whenever you like but for unofficial goods, or photos of your personal collection, please post them on Merchandise Mondays.

The sub gets filled with people taking photos of their collections, their amiibos, their copy of [insert game here] as well as people wanting to sell you stuff. So we limit it to Monday's so it doesn't over take the sub.

Brand new official merchandise announcements are allowed any day of the week, just unofficial merch or photos of your own merch is limited to today!

[BoTW] Reminder to check hero’s path if you ever start getting bored of the game

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 08:27 AM PDT

Idk about you but I forget it's there. Just recently remembered it's an option if u have DLC, so now I'm taking time to explore areas I haven't been to yet. Helped me renew the interest and discover a few new shrines.

[MM] Should I get Majora’s Mask?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 09:17 PM PDT

Essentially I'm a casual Zelda fan. Out of all the Zelda games I've played, Ocarina of time is my favorite. I know Majora's Mask is supposed to be the sequel to ocarina, but I've always been hesitant in getting it because of stuff like the timer. Since I know their are people who have played this game, so what do you guys think? Should I pick it up? (If it matters, I would be getting the 3ds version)

I never thought I would see something like this, but there's an outrageous number of hitherto unseen assets in this thread alone, and there are several others like it. Makes you think about what kind of game we might have gotten as opposed to the title we're familiar with now. Who knows what else they might find in the coming months?

[BotW] The DLC pack is such a blessing!

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 09:28 PM PDT

My 13 year old and I both play BotW we've been playing pretty consistently for the past year. Unfortunately after beating the game and exploring Hyrule it kinda grew stale for my daughter. We tried a couple of speed run challenges and stuff but not enough to keep her attention. We've known about the DLC but neither of us were in any hurry to buy it. On my end coming from an era were (most) games shipped out fully finished I always saw DLC packs as cash grabs (still kinda do). But this weekend we finally bit the bullet of bought the DLC.

I'm so grateful I did. All weekend we've been video chatting playIng the new content seeing who can beat a trial first or who can get what outfit first. The game feels fun again no more mindless exploring (nothing wrong with that) and so grateful for the DLC and that I waited this long to get it.

[OC] Can't draw, but love writing. So here's a (pretty long) story.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 08:47 PM PDT

"Peace?" he whispers. "No. The world is not at peace."

The old man stands hunched over a crooked staff, hood shadowing his face. Around him, a private court. A few knights, hands resting on the hilts of their swords, eyes looking the stranger up and down but detecting no danger. At their head, the hero himself. Holy blade strapped to his back. A strip of blue in his armor, half-covering the kingdom's crest. Face stone. His the only eyes that meet the stranger's. And above him, in a throne below a red-jeweled crest, the princess stares at her hands. Streaks of moonlight slashing across her face.

She ponders the man's words. Then looks up. "Explain."

The old man obliges. Gold eyes peeking out from his hood. Voice a grumbled wisp. "Simple, Your Grace. So simple, one could probably figure it out with little prompting. But I pose a question. To you, your knights, your...protector. How long has it been since the Calamity fell? How long since we've rebuilt?"

The princess's eyes narrow. "What game is this?"

"No game, Your Grace. A harmless question. Begging an all-important answer."

She thinks. Shakes her head. "Long enough that no one alive today lived through it."

"Long enough," the old man nods. "Long enough that no one alive today even has a grandparent who lived through it. And that, Your Grace, is the problem." He looks up to her for the first time. An odd pulse through the room, a chill in the air. The old man shakes his head. "It's been so long that no one would know what it felt like if the Dark One himself waltzed right into the throne room and addressed the last surviving member of the royal family." He smiles, straightens his back. A cracking sound. "So long that if he did come back, they'd have no way of stopping him. No way of fighting him. No strength in bone or steel, no magic or light that could stand his dark. Nothing, dear princess, in all the world, to face what he could do." He jerks a hand. A plume of red smoke billows out from his hand as the wooden staff falls with an echo.

Swords exit sheathes. The hero leaps up the throne steps, shield held out to intercept the smoke. It falls harmlessly to the ground. Red dirt. From the path to Gerudo.

Four knights take a step closer to the old man, who cackles madly to himself. The hero doesn't draw his weapon. Only takes a step forward, watching.

"You see?" the old man laughs. "You couldn't tell an old fool for a dark lord if the kingdom's fate rested on it. You sit on your throne and think what good you've done, what peace you've brought. Have you ever left this castle alone? Ever seen the outskirts of this world you rule? Do you even know what goes on in your own backyard? What's been awakening?"

"Enough," the princess exhales. Clenches her fists. Stands, tall as she can. Then, more firmly: "I welcomed you here for information. Not for riddles, not for games." Her eyes flick to the dust strewn on the stone floor. "If you have something of worth to say, say it. Otherwise...." She nods to the hero, who at last draws the sword, the holy blade. The moon catches the insignia on the blade, glinting in her eyes. She blinks.

The old man nods. "You'll need that weapon, Your Grace. But not for me." He lowers his hood. Hair white, thinning. Skin gray. A cracked jewel on his forehead.

The princess's eyes widen. Images flash through her head. Painting and murals and etchings. All with that jewel. All with that face. Those eyes.

    "You," she whispers. "It's you."

"It's not," the old man smiles. "Not truly." He drops the cloak to the floor. A faded black tunic hangs loosely over his thin frame. "As I said, I am an old fool. Not an enemy. Not some dark lord. But I do come with information." He looks down at his feet. Weariness cast over his cheeks for the first time.

The princess waits. Notices for the first time that the man wears no shoes. His clothes tattered. She shakes her head. "Then give it."

"Something is coming. Something we've never seen before. Something we can't stop. I am its messenger." He looks up once more. Undoes the tie around his tunic, lets it fall to the floor.

The princess gasps at the sight. Pallid skin stretched over rigid bone. Scars covering every inch of him. But not red. Not gray like his flesh. Green. Angular. Purposeful slashes.

One of the soldiers breaks his silence incredulously. "What in the name of Hylia...."

"I am branded," the old man says. "by the true enemy." As he speaks, the very moon seems to dim. "Eater of light, ender of day. They tell us in stories of the Calamity's rise and the kingdom's death, but they speak nothing of the thing that haunts the shadows. The thing that watches always, waiting its chance to strike. And now it comes. It comes for us all."

A gust of wind through the palace hall. With it, darkness. The moon extinguished like a candle. In the black, three things glow. The hero's sword, blue. The old man's scars, green. The princess's throne, red.

When the wind dies, silence. And then a rumble, deep, like growling. All around in the dark.

The old man's cracked voice a whisper. "I bring a message from the god of Twilight:

"'Make ready the way. My day is come.'"

[MM] Remnants of the old time system for Majoras Mask were found in the big n64 game leak!

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 09:54 PM PDT

    https://twitter.com/Zen64_/status/1287582698085777408

This is really cool! For those of you guys who don't know, Majoras mask was originally supposed to have 7 days and the game was meant to be completed by the 7th day. They ended up scrapping this idea because MM had some pretty tight time constraints, but this is still really cool to see old remnants of what the game could have been like !

[BoTW] Just want to say that I was wrong about bombs doing no damage on guardians. THEY DO 2. Damage. 2 damage. It took me 750-800 (due to me missing a lot and it had 1500hp) bombs to kill arguably the easiest variant of guardian and the one of the easiest enemies in the game. Why did I do it. I'm..

[MM] Does anyone have a 5min version of Clock Town Day 1?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 11:38 PM PDT

The music is super fitting for one of the towns in my DND game, but I can only upload music files under 20 mb so all of the 15 minute ones are too big. As such I was hoping to find a 5 minute version of the song, but I can't find any on youtube. So does anyone have one?

    Thanks!

    [ALL] Recent Nintendo/Zelda Leaks

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 02:24 AM PDT

With the massive Nintendo hack still dropping files, recently finding Luigi in a beta version of Mario 64 and... More importantly to this sub, the Beta Zelda 64, Beta Majoras Mask AND Ura Zelda's source code.

If these chunks of code could ever be made into a playable games, Ura Zelda specifically, I can't help but feel I'd have to get the roms on repro carts. It's just a chunk of history that I think I'd need to have physically on a shelf. No matter how un official.

And as I'm writing this, I'm finding out there's even Beta Link To The Past assets that have been released, which leads onto possible code down the line. And then possibly all beta code for Zelda games developed by Nintendo, which sadly does remove a fair few handheld titles, and happily the cdi abominations as well.

Let alone what these chunks of code offer up for modding capabilities and options, it's still a massive find for the general Zelda scene.

So, would these be something you'd emulate, get a repro of or stay away from cos of the whole legality of how it was obtained?

I'm just amazed that we finally have something that confirms Ura Zelda was a thing and Master Quest wasn't what we should have received.
