Today is Self-Post Sunday. Only self-posts are allowed to encourage discussion of the games themselves.

Self-Post Sundays are our main discussion day. On those days we only allow text posts directly about the games themselves.

This means no images, videos, etc. If you want more discussion of all things Zelda we suggest subscribing to /r/TrueZelda where every day it's text only.

    Want more Zelda today?

How about you join our Official Partnered Discord here or visit one of these Zelda related subs to post your non-text only content.

[OoT] Who wrote the letter in the bottle?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 09:13 PM PDT

I always assumed it was Princess Ruto, but when you find her in Jabu Jabu's belly, she says, "'Letter in a bottle?' I have no idea what you're talking about!" Is she lying? My wife and I are replaying OoT together and we're super curious about this now.

[ALL] The official Zelda website (zelda.com) contains some errors...

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 02:03 AM PDT

I was recently perusing zelda.com and I discovered that several entries in the glossary are factually incorrect. Here's a list of all of them that I could find...

    • The entries for the Korok, Rito, Wind Waker, Skull Hammer, and the Triforce Shards use artwork and renders from The Wind Waker. However, the website incorrectly cites the source of the art to be Wind Waker (without the "the"). (Strangely enough, the source of the art used for the King of Hyrule, rupee, and the potion is correctly cited to be The Wind Waker.)
    • The Goddess's Harp is incorrectly labeled as Goddesses' Harp. This would imply that the harp belongs to several goddesses (likely the Golden Goddesses) rather than Hylia. (Strangely enough, the item's description alludes to a single goddess.)
    • The render used for the Master Sword is incorrectly cited. The website claims that the render is from Skyward Sword, but it is actually from Twilight Princess.
    • The render used for bows and arrows is incorrectly cited. The website claims that the render is from Skyward Sword, but it is actually from Twilight Princess.
    • The render used for Heart Pieces is incorrectly cited. The website claims that the render is from Ocarina of Time 3D, but it is actually from Twilight Princess.
    • The render for the slingshot is incorrectly cited. The website claims that the render is from Ocarina of Time 3D, but it is actually from Twilight Princess.
    • The render for the iron boots is incorrectly cited. The website claims that the render is from Ocarina of Time 3D, but it is actually from Twilight Princess.
    • The entry for the hookshot erroneously depicts a render of the longshot. (However, the source of the render, Ocarina of Time 3D, is correctly cited.)
    • The entry for the Magic Hammer erroneously depicts a render of the Megaton Hammer. (However, the source of the render, Ocarina of Time 3D, is correctly cited.)
    • The entry for the Pegasus Boots erroneously depicts a render of the Hover Boots. (However, the source of the render, Ocarina of Time 3D, is correctly cited.)
    • The Kokiri Boots are incorrectly labeled and cited as Boots, although this is likely a generalization of the term.
    • The Kokiri Tunic are incorrectly labeled and cited as Tunic, although this is likely a generalization of the term.
    • The Fire Rod is incorrectly labeled and cited as Rod, although this is likely a generalization of the term.
    • The Red Potion is incorrectly labeled as cited as Potion, although this is likely a generalization of the term.

Admittedly, none of these inaccuracies are very significant. Most of the problems are with the citations, but I am a bit surprised that Nintendo has made so many simple errors. Maybe an intern was in charge of citing all of the art, lol.

[OTHER] Zelda manga Legendary Edition box set

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 10:27 PM PDT

I'm got a Legendary Edition Box Set preordered, but I'm trying to decide if it's worth it since I already have the original (Non Legendary)versions.

Other than them being Hardcover, if there anything that makes the Legendary editions better than the original release?

[LA][OoA][OoS] Link's Awakening or Oracle of Ages/Season, which comes first in the timeline?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 10:44 AM PDT

I'm trying to play the games of this franchise in chronological order, so I found images that show the timeline of the games, however, in the timeline of "Hero is defeated" some of these images conflict. Some show that Link's Awaking comes first and others show that the two Oracle (Ages & Seasons) come first. Which one would be right?

And between Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons, which one comes first?

    [SS] Skyward Sword Disk Error?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 04:18 PM PDT

Hey, I started playing skyward sword and when I try to enter Eldin volcano, (the second red beam early on in the game) the disk stops spinning and it gives an error message telling me to remove the disk and refer to a wii operations manual. Is there anything I can do about this? I already checked for scratches on the disk but it doesn't appear to have anything on it. I also know that all my other couple of wii and GameCube games work and run well.

    [MM] Fierce Deity in Smash?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 07:49 AM PDT

I'm thinking about a Smash game with only the Links from the different games. Now for MM Link i decided, that the down b should transform him into the Fierce Deity. Aireals, tilts and smashes should stay the same, but with more power and range i think but he needs different specials. And then I realized he can do nothing except for shooting lasers. What I now have is

the side b: shooting two laser by pressing b two times,

the up b: just a slow up slash, like Roy (as normal Link its the same but quicker)

and the down b: a counter, inspired by how he holds the sword in the game, when you block.

My idea for the neutral b would only be like a strong Attack (again like Chrom or Roy), but I would like more something inspired by the actual game. So,I am open for any ideas and inspirations.
