[AoC] Megathread: Chapter 3 discussion Posted: 21 Nov 2020 05:00 AM PST Every day we will post a new megathread for users to discuss the next chapter. Spoilers up until and completing this chapter will be allowed. No spoilers past this chapter will be allowed in this thread. Think of this like how TV subreddits will have threads for each episode. If people are progressing faster we may release two or more megathreads a day. You can still use the stickied "[AoC] [Everything] General Open Discussion" megathread to discuss the entire game if you progress faster. Or, make a new thread to discuss. --- Note: For the final few chapters (this could be the final chapter or up to 5 chapters) we will have one final thread with a #++ at the end to designate multiple chapters as to not spoil when the game actually ends. [AoC] [Botw] Playing Botw after AOC is so surreal (Spoilers) Posted: 21 Nov 2020 07:56 PM PST Even though the game is in a different timeline, seeing all the places in Botw you know and love intact is amazing, and when you go back and visit those places again in Breath of the Wild, there's just that much weight added to it. I get that people may have wanted a same-timeline game, but I gotta admit I'm satisfied with the way it added onto breath of the wild, which is what I wanted to feel once finished AoC. Take a look at the Great Plateau for example. You look at all the ruins and broken buildings you saw intact in AoC to the crumbled remains of what was once a thriving place. There were soliders there in mass numbers, waiting for help, but never got it. Knowing that they're now buried in dirt and rubble underneath your feet as you play Botw makes the experience that much more impactful and sad. I almost prefer a split timeline, as we're able to know what happened but still guess how certain things played out, keeping that little bit of mystery there for our imaginations. TL:DR Regardless of timeline shenanigans, Age of Calamity added so much emotional weight to places you would have never thought were very important in Breath of the Wild. [link] [comments] |
