Posted: 03 Feb 2021 12:55 AM PST Demon king. Quite a big title, after all only 3 people have had that title in all of Zelda. Demise, Ganondorf/Ganon and Malladus. What makes them demon kings? Well, they are demons, only Ganondorf becoming a demon after he first becomes Ganon in Oot, even then it seems he gave himself that title as it's shown to us when he fight Ganondorf at his castle for the first time. They all rightly deserve these titles of power as demise was able to fatally wound an immortal goddess, malladus would've had the power to destroy the entire world (or at least he says so when fighting him) and Ganondorf had one third of the triforce which gave him limitless power. Not only that but they are all related due to the curse set by demise, which if you don't know isn't really a curse of HIS hatred but simply the curse of the demon tribe, (Japanese source) which explains why more than 1 baddie appears now and then. Now what does this have to do with WW Ganondorf not wanting to become Ganon? He clearly has before and since he had the ToP, he had the capabilities since that's what made Ganon possible in the first place. Something I would like to point out is that he isn't know as "demon king" anymore, in fact he really doesn't have any title other than just an evil man according to the king of red lions. I believe, only one demon king can really exist at one time. When Ganondorf was sealed in OOT, he didn't have the ability to influence the outside world as he was severely weakened. Malladus could, he had influenced the royal family with Cole. But Adult timeline Ganondorf wasn't able to. He was slain by the master sword AND sealed by the 7 sages where as the other out come of Ganondorf was seal him with the triforce in the sacred realm where he'd be able to gather more minions in the dark realm and send someone who was pretty much just him in disguise to kill the king and take over hyrule castle, and the other out come was sending him to another dimension with the triforce of power where he'd then influence the twili to do his biding. Adult timeline Ganondorf didn't have the luxury of having the full triforce with his own realm and a dimension of people to influence, he was truly trapped. Now eventually like a waterfall on a rock, the seal got weaker and he was able to break free again. Thus the great sea happened. Now if I were Ganondorfs and I was sealed away twice, once by sages and again by a sea I'd start questioning and thinking long and hard about my choices. Was breaking free and having the gods themselves flood the world really needed? Was dethroning a king for the power of ruling hyrule and the world the right course of action? Because that's really what the final battle in WW revealed. Ganondorf didn't want to destroy everything, he was jealous and greedy over hyrule a great green land blessed by the goddesses while he got a desert that he said "the winds brought the same thing, death" as much as many thing to believe, I don't think Ganondorf was just born evil. He was born as every baby is born, innocent. But outside influences made him evil, the burden of ruling and land and being raised by evil gerudo witches made him the king of thieves and eventually the demon king in Oot. But without the witches, without the desert and without his people, he didn't have as much a burden over his shoulder. He simply had sorrow. He just wanted hyrule at this point, he wasn't going to stay true to his word and kill the descendants of link and Zelda, he said himself "I will not kill you, I simply need what you posses" why did he not kill them like he said? Because he's a changed man. And because of this change, he gave up on the title of "demon king" and that title went to the closest and most powerful evil being in the world that would then affect the new land of hyrule thus making demises curse somewhat faithful. Because if you think about it, the curse is really just "evil and greed will always exist, while your people have the omnipotent triforce, there will always be someone willing to kill for it" and while new hyrule didn't have the triforce (that we knew of) and malladus just wanted to destroy the world, he was still evil and thus was worthy of the title "demon king" TLDR: Ganondorf no evil, just bad. No more demon king did Ganondorf. Malladus evil and demon, he then demon king. [link] [comments] |
