[ALL] who each version of Link ends up with

    Posted: 16 May 2020 06:17 PM PDT

I feel like most fans of the series wonder what happens to Link after each game given the expansive timeline of the Zelda universe. It really begs the question : Who does Link ends up with after each game? Truth be told, it really varies depending on the version of Link in discussion, so here's my list—-

Skyward Sword: this is as concrete as it gets for a Zelda link relationship. The relationship between these two is just about explicit. If you've played the game you know what I'm talking about. From the extended dialogue between the two in the beginning, the theme playing as they fly together literally being "Romance," the initial jealousy of Groose, and the rather blunt comment of Gaepora before the ceremony clarify this. Throughout the game, the driving force of the plot is links desire to save her, and in the end, they establish a new kingdom together on the surface.. so yeah

minish cap: after parting ways with ezlo, the future of Link and Zelda is unknown. I'd say it's about 50% likely they end up together, given their close childhood friendship it's a possibility, but there's just not enough known to say.

Four sword: really not much to go by in this one, one of the lesser important games in the series and there's a lot of uncertainty about the future of this link.

Ocarina of time/ majoras mask:Link ends up with Malon in this one. While the point can be made that adult Zelda and link have a romantic connection, that's all but disintegrated when Zelda sends link back to the past, and Link's heroism in unknown to the people of Hyrule. He informs Zelda of his journey to the future and the disaster that would ensue, and it is shown that they are friends via the ocarina of time cutscene in Majora's Mask. Link goes off on his quest to find Navi, and vanishes on his quest to Termina. In the meantime, ganondorf can not access the sacred realm, and is unaware of his holding of the triforce of power. He is not powerful enough to seize Hyrule and his (botched) execution ensues. Not much is known after that, but here's my (pretty common) theory. Link does eventually return to Hyrule and ends up with Malon. This is because Link does need to leave a line of descent for TP Link to exist. Given that him and Malon were friendly enough for her to gift him Epona (as seen in majoras mask) and TP Link is a farm boy in Ordon village and not a socialite in Hyrule, I'd say it adds up that OOT link ends up with Malon. Also, TP Link names his horse epona and the same song Malon taught Link is used to sooth Epona in TP, further tying Malon and Link together (their descendant ends up being a farm boy, duh)

    (Child timeline)

Twilight Princess: if you played the game, you know that it's either Midna and Link or Illia and Link. The relationship between Zelda and link is purely professional throughout the game and absolutely notbing hints at a relationship. The most hinted at relationship To me is Midna and Link, given the clear bond between the two, and the affection Link shows Midna both during her near death experience and as she departs for the Twilight realm. Plus link seems pretty into Midna's true form lol. Sadly, Midna destroys the mirror and both are visibly shaken by this. This leaves two scenarios: 1) link gets another mirror and finds Midna (unlikely) or 2) link ends up with that big headed grotesque excuse of a plot device , also known as Illia and becomes chief of Ordon(sadly more likely)Sigh.

FSA: I don't think anyone really cares

    (Adult timeline)

Wind Waker/ PH: I'm gonna go ahead and say link and tetra. They're buds throughout the game and they go off and establish a new Hyrule together. That's pretty indicative of a relationship if you ask me, even if spirit tracks link isn't of royal blood. I'd say link and tetra is pretty likely

Spirit Tracks : absolutely link and Zelda. If you played the game you can see this is pretty obvious. They work together throughout the entire game and the game ENDS with them holding hands. That's about as finite as it gets for a handheld cartoon Zelda game.

    (Link sucked and died timeline)

    Alttp, OoA/OoS, LA,:

Link and Zelda , and here's why—- in albw, it's stated that Zelda gazes into a portrait of the hero of legend snuggled up with the precious incarnation of Zelda, and that's she's a sucker for Hero princess romances. The hero of legend is confirmed to be the hero that defeated Ganon in a link to the past, which means that link and Zelda must have ended up together for that portrait of them to be made. Though ALTTP itself doesn't hint strongly at this, i think the evidence in ALBW points to it . It's that or Link dies at sea after links awakening..

    A link between worlds/ TH:

Link and Princess styla. As much as I don't like TH being canon, I'm pretty sure it is. While it's possible that link and Zelda end up together, given Zelda's fascination with HeroxPrincess love stories, Styla makes her attraction for Link apparent when she calls him cute, so I'm gonna go with the more concrete evidence, but who knows ? Also I think Ravio and Hilda is the more intriguing pairing from this timeline anyways

Loz and AoL: he gets a kiss from Zelda at the end of the story and I THINK he becomes king of hyrule ? Not much is known about the aftermath of these two but it's possible they end up together .

    (Timeline ???)

Botw: definitely Zelda and Link. This is the most explicit relationship outside of SS. If you did any of the Kass missions, you'd know that— "The princess's love for her fallen knight awakens her power And within the castle the Calamity is forced to cower." So If the numerous cutscenes of the past between Zelda and link didn't make her affection rather apparent, Kass outwardly states it. Also, in the Japanese version, Link has his own journal entries, and one of them states that he wants to save Zelda because he misses her smile. Also , Mipha is dead and is also a zora so that possibility is out the window . I'm intrigued to see how the BOTW sequel will address the relationship between link and Zelda

    So to recap!

Definitely a relationship between Zelda and link:(skyward sword, Breath of the Wild, Spirit tracks)

    Most likely: windwaker/PH, alttp/La/oracles , minish cap

Possibly/ not enough known: ALBW, LoZ/AoL, four swords, four swords adventure

    Nope: OOT/MM, Twilight Princess

    What's everyone's thoughts?

    Posted: 16 May 2020 09:37 PM PDT

I'm your "run away from danger if at all possible" type of player and the trials in Skyward Sword are the WORST. If I wake up the guardians, I start to lose it. Heart rate up, palms sweaty, have to stand and get closer to the TV. Am I the only one that hates these for what they do to my stress levels?
