[OoT][BotW]Was the Great Plateau an idea from 1997? (Beta Leak)

[OoT][BotW]Was the Great Plateau an idea from 1997? (Beta Leak)

So looking at the leaked maps from the OoT beta, the view from Hyrule Field outside castle town looked... familiar
    https://youtu.be/og44L6DlYjw?t=106

If you look at around this timestamp, castle town seems to be located not behind simple walls, but the walls seem to contain an elevated landmass inside. A plateau.

The Great Plateau in BotW has the Temple of Time and is supposed to be the birthplace of Hyrule. We know from AoC the ruins aren't necessarily OoT Castle Town but it certainly could still be what remains from the original.

Regardless, my point is me related to out-of-lore stuff:
Could they have had the idea for "the great plateau" since 1997? Devs often repurpose unused concepts for later games, so could the idea of the Temple of Time existing atop a giant plateau in BoTW have been an idea reused from the development stages of Ocarina of Time?

As a side note, regardless of the GP connection, the beta maps for OoT show that the will to create a big world like we finally got in BotW has been there since the early 3D days. They're all so much more expansive but clearly unsuited for the game OoT was. I'm glad technology caught up to their ambition, even if it took almost 20 years.

[OoT] Thoughts on Ocarina of Time.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 11:06 PM PST

Hi there everyone. I have had a rough history with Ocarina of Time, but it still remains one of the best games that I have had the pleasure of playing. As a kid I always had a hard time playing OoT because it still was a Zelda game. It was a game that I had tried to play so many times but never beat as a kid.

(Before I start this is more of my story with the game, not much of a review, just in case you needed a heads up.)

I wasn't against playing it, but being "E for Everyone" certainly was NOT true in the game. I played it for the first time when I was 8! I was not an "original" player, I played on a Wii with Virtual Console and a GameCube controller, so I didn't have the official N64 feel of the game. I played up until I got the Kokiri's Emerald, and then the adventure was supposed to begin. I remember the 1st time night fell in Hyrule Field, and it scared the living daylights out of me when all these Stalchildren would just pop right out of the ground. I never discovered the Sun's Song as a kid, so it would usually end up with me just rolling through Hyrule field as fast as humanly possible to get to Hyrule Castle Town before the gate closed. I completed the three dungeons, but the my Wii broke from a really hard fall on the floor.

So there went HOURS of progress for me (I was still really scared of the game so it took a while.) Fast forward about two years, for my birthday I went and got it repaired. I booted the Wii but the repairman had wiped all of my games and saves somehow! I was disappointed, and didn't want to finish the game. The 3DS version had come out recently but i had no money to get a 3ds on top of a new game. I tried to get emulation to work for it, and it worked, until I found out it was illegal I tried and got to the water temple when my saves were lost due to a problem with my SD card corrupting for the Wii. Fast forward another 5 years, I really decided I wanted to finish the game. I made it all the way to the Shadow Temple and was saving before entering it when, I kid you not, for the 3rd time I lose my progress when my Wii just gives up and freezes in the middle of a THE SAVE. I reboot and of course my data is lost. I never go ballistic but I was very close to giving up completely on that day. Fast forward yet again to around December 2019. I decide to finish this once and for all. I beat it in just a few hours because of how many times I lost my progress.

Overall, it was a masterpiece for me despite a few...irritating parts, I enjoyed the game very much. The Water Temple wasn't as much of a bother to me as most people say it is. It was bad, but not nearly as bad as many people had made it out to be. I realized it was a test of patience, and by the time I had gone through this temple I wasn't frustrated due to the sheer will and determination I had to just beat the game already. I get to the shadow temple and I had a rough time with it. It served its purpose in the game by being the most disturbing dungeon in the game for me. I mean I though the Forest Temple's music was perfect for a s t h e t i c atmosphere, but unfortunately I have to give the "most fitting music in the game" award to the Shadow temple. I finally beat the temples, and get to Ganondorf's castle for the first time. I charged it with fury, and get to the 1st fight with Ganondorf. I lost about a good 10 minutes before I realized you could spam the spin attack and stunlock him. The castle crumbles and the final showdown began. I finished the fight with a broken Giant's Knife and a lot of screaming. With that, the game was finished, and I had finally beaten one of the greatest games of all time.

If you managed to read all that and you actually cared to read it, thank you for reading my story. I love Zelda games with a passion, and I have only had good experiences since then. If you don't mind, I would like to hear how the game was for you if you've played it. Thank you for your time, and may the Hero of Time never be forgotten.
