From the rule in the sidebar:

Feel free to post news about new official merchandise whenever you like but for unofficial goods, or photos of your personal collection, please post them on Merchandise Mondays.

The sub gets filled with people taking photos of their collections, their amiibos, their copy of [insert game here] as well as people wanting to sell you stuff. So we limit it to Monday's so it doesn't over take the sub.

Brand new official merchandise announcements are allowed any day of the week, just unofficial merch or photos of your own merch is limited to today!

The Beauty Of The Song Of Healing [MM] (possible spoilers for Majora's Mask)

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 08:50 PM PDT

The song of healing has always been a personal favourite theme in gaming. I prefer it even to Phendran Drifts from Metroid Prime or Ridley's Lair/Lower Norfair or even Red Brinstar/Torvus Bog. It is just something that has always stuck with me in ways which I can't describe. It makes me personally feel sad, melancholy, yet happy in some sort of strange way. Let's explore that:

Sadness: This is obvious and fairly straight forward. Firstly it's in a minor key which has always corresponded with some sort of sad place or song or moment anywhere. It is also helped with the moments it is played in. You first here it in the strange clocktower - not clocktower thing. This is where the Happy Mask Salesman tells you: "you've met with a terrible fate, haven't you" which is describing Link's form as a deku scrub after the Skull Kid (using the power of majora's mask) transforms you into, seemingly with the body of a deku scrub you see, disfigured and twisted and its expression sort of screaming. This is a corpse and you are powerless to do anything about it.
The next time you hear the song of healing is whenever you play it. And you always play it to a dead or dying person. Be it Goron, Zora or any other people you may find who need healing. This is the way in the game in which you collect the transformation masks. This makes you feel sad, because you are powerless to stop the death of these people, people who had real lives and family and loved ones that were waiting for them.

Happiness: This is a strange one and personally, I can't really describe it. It is sort of a happiness that even though these people are dead or dying and have people waiting to go back to, they may be finding rest albeit bittersweet.

This is all I have on the Song Of Healing from Majora's Mask. I hope you all can join me at some point for another analysis of something else and what it makes us feel.

"A Legend of Zelda live-action series would never work because Link is a silent protagonist." I disagree. Here is how you make it work. [other]

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 02:13 PM PDT

I shared this on the IGN NVC Facebook group, but I thought some of y'all might appreciate this as well.

    ---

The show revolves around 2 young teens with the likenesses of Link and Zelda. They exist in a version of Hyrule where "the Legend of Zelda" exists as just that.. a legend. The stories are purely "fictional," but every young girl and boy grows up dreaming of becoming one of the fabled Heroes of Legend.

Each episode shows the adventures of the duo as they explore a beautiful and colorful world where they encounter Dekus, Zoras, Gorons, creepy mask salesmen, etc and then a plot starts to reveal itself as darkness spreads across the land. Their adventures become more and more dire building each character up in ways that appear as though they might actually be the heroes of legend...

Then in the final episode.. as the series comes to a dramatic climax and they face off against the evil Lord Ganon.. they fail. But who shows up? Link and Zelda the *actual* Heroes of Legend. They swoop in, kick ass, and defeat Ganon in an epic and visually stunning show down with fan service out the wazoo. Link is good for a few grunts and a *HYAH* every here and there but doesn't say a word. After Ganon is defeated and the dust settles, the 4 heroes lock eyes, and just as Link opens his mouth and is about to thank the youngsters for their help, Link and Zelda get sucked into a dark vortex. With Ganon's dying breath, he banishes Link and Zelda to another world.

    THE END

They could either end it there as a self contained story about two kids adventuring in Hyrule and their close encounter with the Heroes of Legend OR... Season 2 and beyond could continue following their journey. They might not be the chosen ones, but they've learned that they are brave and strong enough to create their own legend. They encounter more familiar faces and foes, they stumble upon ancient artifacts, etc.

    - It works because you could still see a beautifully realized live-action version of Hyrule without having to live up to the expectations of giving Link a voice and a personality.

    - By setting the main characters up to NOT be Link and Zelda, they can have personalities of their own but still exhibit similar characteristics (like having the boy be lazy and have a hard time waking up.) Plenty of room for easter eggs and little nods here and there.

    - They could tell their own completely original story without worrying about upsetting fans because this isn't "Ocarina of Time, The Show or The Movie." It is its own thing and it could pull from every single game in the series and still be its own thing.

This rant is how I'm handling covid-19 quarantine today. Thank you for reading. Let me know if you agree or disagree. ✌️😅

PS - Someone please share this with their uncle at Nintendo. Lets make it happen!!

[OoS][OoA] If the Oracle games were given remakes similar to LA, what would you want to be changed/added?

[LOZ] Who else think Nintendo should do a 3D remake of the first LOZ from 1986? Not like link awakenings remake but a open world 3D version like BOTW.

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 11:14 PM PDT

It's been on my mind ever since Ocarina of time. I always wanted to see a 3D version of the original green and brown tunic and pointy nose link. Imagine riding horses, crafting, exploring and etc 🙌

[ALL] Majora vs Ganon vs Vaati

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:07 AM PDT

    (Yes the generic debate)

So, I've recently replayed through the Zelda games and took a second to think... what villain is actually the strongest?

Majora, the being sealed into a mask due and controls others like a puppet to do its bidding. Majora is more mysterious than the other villains, making him hard to understand power wise. But, if we are going with canon, Link NEEDED to use the Fierce Deity Mask to take him down. "The mask allows Link to transform into the avatar of a mighty god, The Fierce Deity" meaning that godlike power was needed to bring him down. Though, we don't know the true form of Majora nor much else beyond the game knowledge (Nintendo, it can be a recurring villain you know.). It is arguable that he is the most bizarre villain that never shows it's true form nor power due to not being able to access it on account of needing a puppet to be granted sentience as it is sealed away into the mask. His powers include - necromancy, shapeshifting, immense dark magic, elemental control. Though, if we go off of in game, it can be harmed by normal means and beaten without the Fierce Deity Mask.

Ganon is the more well known of three. He is primarily fighting with magic and swords. He has shown to be equal to if not superior than most Links in combat, and has access to the triforce of power. Almost all of the Ganondorfs can transform to Ganon, their true beastly form resembling a pig or a boar. It greatly enhances their power. Each one has a major weakness - The Master Sword, Light/Silver arrows(and a bottle if you count that). The premise of most games with Ganon as the main enemy is to obtain the Sword of Evils bane, the Master Sword to use its power to slay/weaken him enough to seal him away. Its primarily his only weakness in the series. And.. he's kind of immortal.

Vaati is a bit of a special case and comes in two forms - In the Minish Cap, he primarily is a sorcerer that became evil due to his fascination with power and "the light source". He is weak to the four sword. He has many forms in the game, a demon form, Wrath form and his normal Wind mage form. He is sealed into the four sword at the end of the game. He uses different dark magic with his transformations and has great swordsmanship. He has only had two major goals in his games, marry Zelda and to destroy hyrule. He has gotten to the triforce before Ganon has, though. One thing to note is when the Four Swords was unsealed in ALTTP, Vaati never appears, meaning he might of been destroyed when he was sealed in it.

Personally, I'd like to THINK that Majora would be the strongest out of the three if we knew more about it and how powerful it could really be if it was unsealed from the mask. But, we don't know and probably never will.

[OoT] [MM] Ocarina of Time & Majora’s Mask on Nintendo Switch

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 01:30 AM PDT

I recently got the 12-month membership for Nintendo Switch, and I've been able to download and play classic NES and Super NES games, like the original Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past, with it. Just curious, will they ever add the Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask to the Switch membership as downloadable content?

Probably more of a generic Nintendo Switch question but thought I'd just toss it in here. I played BoTW on my roommates switch, he made me a file of my own. I was going to buy my own switch and was wondering if it's possible to take my file off his Nintendo account and put it on my own.

[OTHER] Does anyone know what the chorus is singing in the 25th Anniversary Orchestra album, in the Twilight Princess medley?

Specifically the Hyrule Field portion and the part at the end. Sounds like Latin, can't place my finger on what they're singing.
