From the rule in the sidebar:

Feel free to post news about new official merchandise whenever you like but for unofficial goods, or photos of your personal collection, please post them on Merchandise Mondays.

The sub gets filled with people taking photos of their collections, their amiibos, their copy of [insert game here] as well as people wanting to sell you stuff. So we limit it to Monday's so it doesn't over take the sub.

Brand new official merchandise announcements are allowed any day of the week, just unofficial merch or photos of your own merch is limited to today!

[SS] Replaying Skyward Sword with my daughter has given me a new appreciation for it.

    Posted: 24 May 2020 01:47 PM PDT

I bought Skyward Sword when it came out in 2011. I beat it in short order, and had the typical criticisms of it (too linear, boring flying, Fi is annoying, etc.) Fast forward to now. I have a 4 year-old little girl, and when she was 2 I started playing Zelda games with her. I read the story to her as I play, and she has loved it. We beat OoT, Majora, and then Wind Waker (which is her favorite). She got creeped out by TP, so we skipped it for now, and went to SS. This is my first replay since 2011. It's funny how the things I criticized as an adult are the things she loves about it. I hated having to return constantly to places I've already been; she loved it and kept commenting on how everything has changed. I thought Groose was a dumb character; she was howling with laughter at everything he did. I thought flying was boring; she kept saying how beautiful the bird and the sky were. She also loved watching daddy flail his arms around to swing the sword. And finally, there's Fi. Yes, she won't shut up, but her constant reinforcing of what the next objective is really helped my little girl understand what was going on. And, at the end, when Fi was saying goodbye to Link, my little girl started to cry, which in turn made me tear up while I was reading her final words to Link. I never thought in my life that I would tear up over Fi, but here I am. Seeing her enjoying the game so much really made me enjoy it that much more, and while the game still has problems, I understand some of the design choices a bit more now as a father then I ever could have back in 2011.

Except the Imprisoned. That guy sucks.

[WW] You know what really grinds my gears?

    Posted: 24 May 2020 08:32 PM PDT

    Spoilers below

I've never reconciled with the fact that Makar, who was born FROM THE EARTH, and is a PLANT CREATURE is the sage of the Wind, and Medli, who IS A BIRD WITH WINGS and can FLY is the sage of the Earth.

    ??????

    what????

Also, I cannot possibly be the only person who thinks that the Wind Temple looks real fucking earthy man idk, it has a green/brown color scheme and grass growing out of the floor so it really looks like the Earth Temple to me, but nope, it's the Wind Temple! Also, the walls of the Wind Temple are literally brown earth. Like ground, dirt.

Similarly, the actual Earth Temple looks a lot more suited to be the Wind Temple, with a cool gray color palette and giant open spaces (one area even has a hollow tube like structure that stretches across 3 different floor levels, where you're literally supposed to fly as Medli toward the top).

Like brother what were they thinking. It shocks me that not a single person at Nintendo stopped for like half a nanosecond and said, "hm, Medli has wings so she should be the wind sage, and Makar is a plant so he should be the Earth sage."

    Wtf

I'm convinced at this point that Nintendo knew fully well what they were doing but just wanted to fuck with us for shits and giggles. There is no fucking way that Shigeru Miyamoto didn't take one look at this shit and said yeah something aint right

[SS] Let's have a discussion about Skyward Sword

    Posted: 24 May 2020 11:53 PM PDT

Ler's go back to 2011. I'm 20 years old, just got skyrim, the biggest open world game of its time outside an mmo. I'm STOKED that there's a new Zelda coming. Lo and behold it's insanely linear, wierd controls and totally different than twilight princess.

    I. Loved. It.

Link and Zelda truly felt like friends who wanted to be more. But tragedy struck and forced Link to go on this insane adventure filled with so many friends and enemies.

Even when i wanted to put it down, it was so engaging to me and i couldn't let go. It's so fun and diverse with a story i couldn't let go of. Sure Fi was annoying, but she helped so many kids get into Zelda by making it so accessible.

Skyward Sword was a real gem! I recommend it to everyone! Grab some totinos pizzas, take 2 days off, and bust through this adventure. You won't regret it!

    [LAHD] Surprised by Link’s Awakening

    Posted: 24 May 2020 04:12 PM PDT

I'm a pretty big Legend of Zelda fan, let's start with that. It really started with OOT when I was 10 and I played every major game since. I own three ocarinas and play them mostly because I love the series so much.

However when Link's Awakening came out I wasn't so sure, the style was simplistic, there were "Mario enemies" and it looked childish to me.

But boredom struck and I bought it anyway and I must say it's a very fun and relaxing game. It's not super challenging, but it makes up for that in being colorful, fun and rewarding.

The game just makes me very happy. I'm a little over half way in and I can't wait to pick it up again tomorrow. I was wrong to think this one would suck and I'm glad I was. It's a nice game to play in my lazy chair with the dog on my lap.

What do you guys think of Link's Awakening?

[ALL] How do I play all the Zelda games if they're scattered throughout several platforms?

    Posted: 24 May 2020 07:21 PM PDT

I want to take advantage of quarantine to replay all (or most) Zelda games. However, since they are scattered amongst many platforms and – obviously – have no PC ports, what are the best resources besides treasure hunting for the past consoles and games?

How stable are emulators for 3ds, for example?

    Thank you.

Note: I read the rules of this Reddit and I believe I am in the right to post this. If I misread then I apologize.

[botw2] My theory for Botw2 (not serious)

    Posted: 24 May 2020 06:02 PM PDT

    TLDR at the bottom

The game is called The Legend of Zelda: Out of Breath, were link passes out in the first minute of the game giving ganon the chance to drown link (he does obviously) and after that you play as ganon regretting what you have done seeing person after person losing hope that hyrule is doomed with link dead. You cry and pout only to realize you can help rebuild hyrule! You help Zelda rebuild hyrule over the years you grow old and can't help but are happy with the difference you have made but there is still something missing. Soon you retire in tarry town after you change your name to ganonson. Then you live happily ever after... Till you are on the beach and you see a cute dogo running on the sand. The dog wreaks a sandcastle and the dog just smiles with glee because the some kids are yelling at him but the dog just sees it as them paying with him. You soon realize that is what has been missing from you, attention. So you start destroying what you have worked so hard to build but it feels so good and you regain your power because people yell at you and you create mass destruction. You soon take the dog and treat him like a king for what he has done for you. You and the dog take over hyrule piece by piece. Zelda sees what you have done and revives link from his grave using the triforce of wisdom. Link figures out the way to your heart is your dog so he gets your dog as a companion and legend says you will go to the ends of the earth training your dog and playing fetch with him to ultimately fight ganon and make him regret what he has done to restore peace in hyrule. This will set the stage for The Legend of Zelda: Out of Breath

TLDR The Legend of Zelda: Out of Breath has ganon drown link, regret it, rebuild hyrule, and destroy hyrule with a dog after that link is revived via Zelda and he get the dog and that stets the stage for The Legend of Zelda: Out of Breath

[LoZ] Is there a clue for the Original Legend of Zelda 7th Dungeon Location?

    Posted: 24 May 2020 08:10 PM PDT

I've been playing the original Legend of Zelda on switch. I beat it when I was a kid but that's because I had a paper strategy guide. I remember thinking I never would have been able to beat it without a guide so I made it my goal to try to beat it without looking up anything. And all of that was fine, until I had to find dungeon seven. I ended up needing to look up where it was and I have to say, I don't think I would have found it in a hundred years.

How is anyone supposed to know you they needed to>! use the flute!< when there is no indication that it does that on any other screen? I've done a whole bunch of internet searches trying to find out if there's an in-game clue for this but I only got sites just telling me where it is, not how you're supposed to know where it is. Is there a hidden old man or woman who tells you, "music will drain the blue" or something to that effect? A lot of people beat this game before the internet so what am I missing? There has to be a clue somewhere in the world that I just didn't find right?

If anyone can tell me how I was supposed to figure this out it would be appreciated.
